Stacked With Sizzle, Thee Burger Spot Should Be On Your List

Yep, that’s a bacon Cheeseburger between two Krispy Kreme donuts called Thee Glazed One

Thee Burger Spot, a foodie-fave burger joint, has been serving up indulgent creations since 2018. Nestled on the border between Tampa Heights and Seminole Heights in a mid-century building, this soulful family-run establishment brims with personality. It’s a small space with walls filled with corny signs, including one that reads, “Protected by FAFO (fuck around and find out),” and a chalkboard daring customers to “bring both your wife and your girlfriend and eat for free.” Innuendo graces their shirts, asking “Can you handle all this meat in your mouth?” As the name implies, the menu is beef-centric, using hamburgers as a canvas to create artful combos. With R&B music playing in the background, I prepare for something burgerliscious.

Double dog dare you!

Portions here are generous. Thee Bacon One ($8.75) is a quarter-pound ground beef patty stacked high with fried onions (dubbed “Famous Onion Thangs”), mustard, lettuce, tomato, and a pickle, all nestled in a soft bun. This burger is a two-hander, and when paired with a side of the house crinkle-cut fries—golden brown, crisp, and plentiful—it makes for an XL meal. But even that pales compared to Thee Big Boy, a ginormous one-pound, triple-stack monster that looks straight out of an eating challenge.

For those looking to shake up their usual burger routine, Thee Burger Spot offers a creative menu of gourmet selections. With the Florida State Fair on the horizon, I decided to prime my taste buds with Thee Glazed One, a bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between two Krispy Kreme donuts, available only on Fridays and Saturdays. The first bite delivers an explosion of flavors: the sweet glaze hits first, followed by smoky bacon and the rich, salty beef. The glossy donut contrasts beautifully with the melty cheese and crisp bacon, making for an indulgent, lip-smacking treat. This concoction first made the rounds at the fair a dozen years ago, and it’s good to know I can get it year-round when I have a hankering.

Thee Creamy One Quarter pound burger topped with creamy peanut butter, bacon and cheese. Just try it!

Thee Creamy One is a quarter-pounder topped with smooth peanut butter, bacon, and cheese. Before you make your “that’s gross” face, try it! Peanut butter (especially unsweetened) is the perfect topper for burgers, bringing a gooey earthy flavor (think of Thai peanut sauce) that mixes delicately enough with the creamy cheese and beefy burger. When you add in the house bacon, it’s a trip around the culinary kingdom.

Beyond burgers, Thee Anti-Burger menu offers options like Thee Grouper Sandwich, a fresh catch topped with tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, American cheese, and those Famous Onion Thangs. Fries also come in several varieties, including plain, loaded- topped with cheese, ranch dressing and Applewood smoked bacon, and Steak Fry- topped with steak, cheese, and jalapenos.

Can you handle all this meat?

To wash it all down, the drink selection includes Blue Bell ice cream shakes, and Joe's Juice, a lineup of fruity concoctions served over ice. Flavors like Pineapple Express, Blue Dream, The Chronic, and Peach Mango Kush add a playful touch, alongside classic canned Coke and Pepsi products.

All food is packaged to go, with burgers served in white Styrofoam containers and fries in simple paper bags. The staff is warm and welcoming, service is fast, parking is a breeze, and prices are surprisingly affordable given the hefty portions. Thet offer dine-in, take-out, and
